The Moonachie Fire Department welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds. Final eligibility requirements will be confirmed by the department.

  • 01Be at least 18 years of age (16 for the junior program).
  • 02Live in or near Moonachie with the ability to respond to calls.
  • 03Pass a basic background check and physical, per department policy.
  • 04Commit to state-certified training and regular drills.

How It Works

Express Interest

Fill out the form and a member of the department will reach out to you.

Visit the Firehouse

Meet the crew, see the apparatus, and learn what membership involves.

Submit Your Application

Submit your application. The membership reviews it at the next regular meeting.

Clearance & Training

Complete your background check, physical, and other requirements. Once you're cleared, you can begin answering calls; training starts shortly after.
